The stress of interviews can wear on people. But if you’ve done your preparation, the odds will be in your favor.
Think of preparing for your job interview as training for a marathon or studying for a test.
If you put the work in ahead of time, the end goal becomes a whole lot easier to achieve.
Want to nail that interview? We can help!
Here are 3 tips to help you prepare for your job interview:
-
Do your research.
Know who the company is and what they do. If there are any management profiles accessible, read them over as well. You won’t be quizzed on what you learn. But you may be pleasantly surprised by just how impressed an employer can be when an applicant takes the extra time to learn about the business.
-
Know what you bring to the table.
Be able to understand and articulate your work history clearly. Make sure you can communicate your strengths and weaknesses. You should be able to explain how your experience will allow you to fulfill the job duties required. Remember, you’ll lose credibility as a qualified candidate pretty quickly if you struggle to find fundamental answers about your skills.
-
Have facts to back you up.
You may be asked to provide examples of how your previous work experience can benefit the company. Have specific examples or metrics ready, to show your value and highlight your accomplishments. It’s easy to say you’ve been the “top performer” or the “highest earner,” but you should be able to prove it.
Bonus Pro Tip:
It’s OK to bring a small, professional-looking notebook or folder to help you stay organized and on track during the interview. It will also allow you to take notes or write down any important information you’ve gathered.
Being organized and having an idea of what you want to talk about is key to a successful interview.
