Overview
A leading industrial products company, known for its high-reliability power and signal connectors, was preparing to launch a new facility. But they faced a unique challenge: hire 50 temp-to-hire employees within just five days — split over the Thanksgiving holiday — to meet their opening date and kick off production.
With strong recommendations from other internal divisions that had experienced Verstela’s dedicated support firsthand, the company turned to Verstela to achieve this critical goal.
The backstory
The industrial products company was expanding its operations with a new facility at its flagship campus in Mesa, AZ. The campus, home to several key divisions, was set to add another significant operation to its portfolio. However, the success of this launch hinged on hiring 50 employees quickly to support production from day one. The roles included key manufacturing positions such as assembly workers, quality inspectors, machine operators, and specialized leadership roles like production supervisors.
Verstela had already established itself as a trusted partner within the company’s family, consistently delivering exceptional staffing solutions for other divisions. This ability to navigate complex hiring needs, coupled with a deep understanding of the company’s operational demands, had earned Verstela strong endorsements across the board. But with this new challenge, the company required greater certainty.
Could Verstela deliver on such a large-scale, urgent hiring need under intense time constraints?
Despite their own efforts with traditional recruitment methods, the company lacked the local expertise and resources to secure the necessary number of qualified candidates within such a short window.Faced with pressure to meet this critical deadline, the company explored multiple staffing agencies. When Verstela presented its proposal, showcasing a proven track record with similar high-stakes projects, they chose Verstela as their sole staffing partner.
The approach
Five days before the hiring event, Verstela held a strategic planning session with the company’s Global Director of HR and their team. Recognizing the importance and urgency of the project, Verstela brought in its in-house marketing team to devise a multi-channel campaign designed to attract the right talent quickly and efficiently.
The objective of the session was clear: develop a comprehensive plan that would ensure the success of the hiring event. Key details were discussed, including current hiring resources, the event schedule, interview logistics, and specific role requirements. With this critical information, Verstela crafted a targeted recruitment strategy.
Verstela also assembled a dedicated recruiting team, defined roles, and meticulously planned the logistics for the event. The goal was to provide on-site support that would streamline the interview process, manage walk-ins, and allow the company’s HR and leadership teams to focus solely on evaluating qualified candidates.
The solution
Building on the strategic plan, Verstela swiftly mobilized a robust multi-channel recruitment campaign, designed to deliver targeted results and meet the company’s urgent hiring needs. The marketing team utilized advanced geo-targeting techniques to reach candidates in key areas with the necessary skills. This approach ensured that the right talent was attracted quickly and efficiently. The strategy included leveraging job boards and social media platforms to maximize reach and visibility.
A structured three-step interview process was implemented to filter and select the most qualified candidates. Those who secured interview slots received detailed RSVP emails, including essential information such as interview times, preparation guidelines, dress code, location details, and parking instructions.
On the ground, a four-person team from Verstela managed the hiring event, ensuring that operations ran smoothly from start to finish. This hands-on approach allowed the company’s team to focus entirely on conducting interviews without worrying about logistical challenges.
The result
The two-day hiring event was a resounding success. Verstela exceeded expectations, generating 63 of the 68 candidates interviewed. As a result, 60 job offers were extended, surpassing the original goal by 20% and achieving 120% of the target.
A standout metric was the 93% RSVP interview show-up ratio, which significantly contributed to the event’s success.
In addition to filling these key roles, Verstela also secured a direct-hire Warehouse Manager, demonstrating the ability to deliver quality leadership talent.
Here’s what they had to say:
“I want to thank you again for all your hard work and amazing partnership over the past two days! It is wonderful to know we have a great partnership blossoming here at this facility!”
— Human Resources Manager
“Absolutely a fantastic teamwork success! Could not have done it without all of you!!”
— Global Human Resources Director
Verstela’s efforts didn’t end with the initial hiring phase.
To support ongoing operations, a full-time onsite supervisor was introduced to assist with future hiring, employee management, and collaboration with the company’s supervisors. This proactive approach facilitated growth and, two months later, Verstela successfully staffed a new second shift with 30 employees using the same effective blueprint.
Verstela’s strategic and proactive recruitment efforts not only met immediate staffing needs but also laid the foundation for the company’s continued operational success and growth.
