Reginald Stringfellow grew up in a small town in Louisiana, working at a chicken plant before moving to the Dallas area in 2015, a move fueled by big dreams and the determination to build a better future for himself and his family.
Recently, Reginald was looking for work and reached out to Verstela’s Hurst, TX branch. At first, there wasn’t an immediate fit, but he didn’t give up.
Hurst Branch Manager Kiara Kennedy recalls: “He consistently checked in and got to know all of the recruiters in the office. As soon as we had the right spot for him, we called him for the job.”
That role ended up being just eight minutes from his home. “That was wonderful. That was good for me,” Reginald said.
Now working as a picker and packer, he makes sure his team stays connected. “I make sure my coworkers know what’s going on and that we’re all on the same page,” he explained.
What he values most are the people around him: “They all come to work with a mindset that they’ve got a job to do. Nobody comes in with an attitude, no matter what kind of morning they had.”
The role, and his team, has helped him grow outside of work too: “At first, I liked being alone a lot. This job helped me make a couple friends, and now it’s opened me up to more — going out, doing things with them.”
His positivity and reliability haven’t gone unnoticed. Kiara shared: “He has had excellent attendance and is a star player for the supervisors we work with. He’s a very positive person and shares his big smile!”
Reginald has even referred friends to Verstela. One will be joining him soon.
When asked what keeps him motivated, he laughed: “Bills aren’t gonna stop.” And his advice for others looking for work? “You gotta be willing to want it. A job ain’t gonna come find you. You gotta go find it. Keep showing up, get your tasks done, and come back the next day.”
